For those of us who are still here, enjoy. For those who went to Greece and Cyprus have fun and come back replenished, ready to work because we need your refreshed energy to move us along. Our community, the Greek-speaking sector of it, is in shambles! Nothing seems to work and how, since they are recycling older – not in age necessarily – people and failed practices expecting(?) different results. Greece isn’t in better shape, despite the summer tourism boost. The Greek Tourism Organization advertises Greece to the Greek media in New York, only those that publish in Greek, because it’s the Greeks from here that are needed to save the old country from itself! Good luck! Cronyism, stupidity, mediocrity are in the forefront of everything!
Sorry, friends, I didn’t mean to spoil the summer mood, but sometimes a little spoiling goes a long way. Or more likely nowhere, like me this summer. Health issues have anchored me here, in the heat, the humidity and the brown water of the local beaches. Worse, I can’t drink or smoke or even eat many, if not, most things. Which makes not going to Greece this year less burdensome, because who wants a vacation with so many restrictions?
Anyway, have fun whether you cross the Atlantic or not, and take advantage of everything good in your life! There is always time for worries after the trip…
